Taylor's favorite Disney movie when he was a toddler was Mary Poppins. He would grab his kid broom and dance with the chimney sweeps to Step In Time. It was the cutest thing. He'd go up to strangers and say "tep in time". So we thought it would be fitting to take everyone to see the Broadway musical Mary Poppins the Saturday after graduation. Our now grown up little boy would see the stage version of his favorite movie in the city that never sleeps. It seemed like a fitting rite of passage into adulthood.
We rode the Staten Island Ferry to Battery Park. We walked across Wall street and saw the Bull, went inside Trinity Church and then visited the World Trade Center site. We had a quick lunch in a deli and watched street performers from the second story dining room, then hopped on the subway to the theater district. We went to the musical and then went to the Toys R Us store so the kids could ride the indoor ferris wheel. After that we went to a restaurant that Taft had wanted to go to ever since we saw it last December. It was Mars 2312. The food was okay, but we had to pay an entertainment fee, for what I don't know...martians in costume? They could definitely take a few lessons from Casa Bonita in Denver. It was an exhausting but fabulously fun day!

By the way, I love your family picture at the top of your blog. Taylor is off at BYU already, can't believe that. These kids are growing up way too fast. So...what did everyone think of Mary Poppins? One of my all time favorites as well. Really wanted to see the musical while it was here in Chicago but missed it.
