Our elementary school has had a long tradition of taking the 5th grade classes on a field trip to historic Williamsburg, VA as well as Yorktown and Jamestown. It made me a little nervous to have kids that young go on this three day trip with no parents, just staff, but they have it down to a science. We arrived at 6 a.m. at the school the first Wednesday in May and they loaded up on three coach buses for the five hour trip south. They stayed in a hotel and saw all the historic sights to reinforce what they'd learned about early American history and returned home Friday evening. They had a great time and have memories to last a lifetime.
